Rudy Wallang
Anyone with an interest in the western music scene in India will surely recognize guitar player / singer / songwriter / musician Rudy Wallang. Born into music, he grew up listening to his father Toto Wallang making music and he started singing and playing the ukulele at the age of 7 years eventually graduating to the guitar.
Today, Rudy is one of the foremost Blues guitar players/songwriter/musicians in the country with a 43 year long career in music having been part of the country’s most well-known blues rock acts, Great Society, Mojo and the legendary Blues Band, Soulmate. He was awarded the Best Guitar Player in India at the 2009 Jack Daniels Music Awards in Mumbai.
He is also a part of The Fender Benders, a group of Musicians/Fender guitar players that include Ehsaan Noorani, Loy Mendonsa, Warren Mendonsa, Sanjay Divecha, Amyt Dutta and Arinjoy Sircar to name a few ,who make music together and promote the Fender brand in India. Rudy has done a number of workshops on the Blues and guitar playing, in Shillong and other cities across India as well.
He has very recently started another musical project called Rudy & The Kool Kats (with Shepherd Najiar, Gregory Nongrum, Brian Suting, Leon Wallang & Vincent Tariang) as well as Rudy & The Family Band (With his children).
